Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues located deep within the body and offers this opportunity with each supported pose offered. Held for 3-5 minutes, yin asks the practitioner to surrender through mindfully surrendering in various ways. As we commit to the pose, we relax as completely as possible and abstain from muscular effort. Expect class to move slowly with ample opportunity to go inward enough that one is able to eventually settle into a deeply meditative state of mind. Learning how to relinquish control in class and on the mat translates into everyday life, helping us to deal with stressful and uncomfortable situations.
